This strain of lupine is native to northern Europe (Iceland in most photos) and can take a cold winter. They can thrive in warmer parts of the country with the help of some afternoon shade. Easy to grow perennial that will tolerate some drought after established and doesn't mind a little shade in hot areas. The plant is low lying and bushy, with star shaped 8" leaves. In early spring eye catching flower spikes grow up to 40" tall and bloom spring through early summer. The blooms are Purple/Blue/Violet. The colors vary from spike to spike, so no two blooms are exactly alike. The blooms make great long lasting cut flowers. European Lupines also do well in a good-sized container. Lupines do not transplant very well, so start seeds in their permanent home. They will spread through dropped seed. Thanks for stopping in.100+ Quality seeds per order. Thank You! Lupinus perennis.
