PAINTED TONGUE also known as Velvet Trumpet, is a South American annual that likes cooler weather and fills the garden with crazy colors from spring until midsummer. This is a mix of Red, Yellow and Pink. No two flowers are alike. They all will have a yellow tongue. They'll often produce a late season burst of color when temperatures drop in autumn. It is a great choice for cut flower arrangements that also grows very well in containers. Plant salpiglossis seeds indoors in late winter, 6 to 8 weeks before last frost, Cover the pots with black plastic to provide darkness until the seeds germinate. Direct sow at time of last frost. Surface sow, gently firming soil over the tiny seeds. Seeds germinate in 7-21 days. Peat pots work well and prevent damage to the roots when the seedlings are transplanted outdoors after frost. Plant in full sun/filtered shade. Salpiglossis thrives in late spring or cool-summer conditions. Space plants 9-12 inches apart. Deadhead regularly. 300+ seeds per order. salpiglossis sinuata mix. Annual. Full sun - Part Sun. Spring, soil temp 70-75F+. SOW-Press 3 seeds per into soil and cover, about 9-12"apart. Keep moist. Germination 7-21 days. Thin to one best seedling. Use scissors to cut out unwanted sprouts. Height 16 - 24" x 9" wide. Medium water and a little fertilizer in late spring/early summer.
